Why Smart Financial Advisors Struggle to Get Clients (And How to Fix It)

Jul 11, 2025

Why do some of the smartest financial advisors have the hardest time getting meetings with prospects?

I sat in on a webinar the other day titled “Manage Your Wealth in 2025.”
Two CFPs. Clean slides. Looked legit.

But five minutes in, I was bored out of my mind...You know why?

They talked about CPI. Yield curves. Roth conversions. Diversified strategy. Portfolio rebalancing.

They sounded like my Finance 301 professor.
Not like someone I'd trust with my life savings.

If I ever have insomnia, I'll switch on the replay.

They were both smart, clearly knew their stuff...

But there was no emotion...they were talking at me, not to me.

The whole webinar was them talking about their technical knowledge, listing their services.

I shout this from the rooftops constantly, but what's the one thing most advisors don't get?

Your prospects don’t want a diversified portfolio.
They want to know they’ll be okay if the market tanks tomorrow.

They don’t care about Roth conversions.
They care about not giving the IRS a six-figure tip.

They don’t want to “navigate volatility.”
They want to sleep at night.

If your content, website, emails, presentations, etc are just a list of services and strategies, they're dead on arrival.

People do not buy services. They buy outcomes.

They buy security. Relief. Confidence.

That's what you focus on. Not what you actually do. No one cares.
